Who Serves on UZA Development Committees?
There are two committees, DC East (the Development Committee East for Harare, Manicaland, Mash Central, Mash East & Mash West) and DC West (the Development Committee West for Byo, Mat North, Mat South, Masvingo & Midlands).
Objectives of the Development Committees
- Strengthen party leadership structures and coordination
- Support the election of UZA candidates to parliament and local government
- Increase party funding & capacity
- Review and make recommendations regarding party policies and issues
- Evaluate the effectiveness of party activities
Functions of the Development Committees
Leadership development
- Put in place key performance measures for assessing the effectiveness of the party structures at all levels thereby ensuring that UZA party leaders carry out the duties
- Prepare the party for proposed goals including fundraising campaigns, elections or other special activities
Elections support & local engagement
- Increase UZA party visibility within local communities
- Amplify activities for UZA political campaigns
- Promote awareness of UZA candidates who are contesting in elections
Fundraising, capacity building & action plans
- Provide guidance on engagement calendars and meeting schedules
- Shape action plans and coordinate community engagement activities
- Actively support and promote party membership, fundraising and activities
- Make recommendations for oversight and distribution of party resources
Policies & Compliance
- Identify priority policy issues and shape plans to address them
- Make recommendations to streamline the effectiveness of the party
Who serves of the Development Committees?
- National Executives
- Provincial Leaders (top 6 All Wings)
- Aspiring candidates from the provinces, who have demonstrated consistent leadership in their communities
- Leaders of the Diaspora Province who are from the provinces in the DC
The Development Committee meetings are facilitiated by the UZA Secretariat.
