The United Zimbabwe Alliance (UZA), founded in 2021, has stepped onto Zimbabwe’s political stage with a unique vision. We aim to challenge corruption, dismantle oppression, and build a nation firmly rooted in democracy and justice. The 2023 Harmonised Elections demonstrated that even against entrenched political machinery, the power of a unified and determined people cannot be ignored. Our participation is not just a statement but a resounding call to action for all Zimbabweans yearning for change.
Zimbabwe is currently at a pivotal moment in its history, presenting a clear opportunity for positive change. The United Zimbabwe Alliance (UZA) serves as a unifying force, bringing people together around the core values of progress, equity and accountability. Our movement is dedicated to shaping a brighter future for all Zimbabweans, ensuring that the goals of our citizens are prioritised above any single political party. UZA is committed to driving meaningful change and encourages everyone who envisions a prosperous Zimbabwe to join us in this inspiring journey of renewal and transformation.
In the 2023 elections, UZA made commendable progress by fielding 31 candidates for the House of Assembly and 129 candidates for Local Authorities, thereby ensuring representation across all regions of Zimbabwe. Our candidate slate notably included 37 young individuals and 42 women, highlighting our steadfast commitment to inclusivity and equitable representation. This initiative is in alignment with Section 17 of the Zimbabwean Constitution, which emphasises the importance of gender balance - a fundamental principle that is frequently disregarded by those in power.
While countries like Rwanda lead with 61.3% women in parliament, Zimbabwe stagnates at 31.9% (in March 2019), a clear indicator of patriarchal politics and systemic barriers. UZA stands as an anchor of possibility, ensuring that the voices of women and young people are not just heard, but amplified. Our efforts challenge a political culture that has historically excluded marginalised groups despite constitutional promises of equality.
UZA's successful candidacy of 42 women and 37 young individuals marks a remarkable step forward in fostering inclusivity. Each of these candidates represents a valuable opportunity to overcome long standing barriers and empower all citizens to participate in shaping Zimbabwe's future. By filling in the gaps that have been overlooked for decades, UZA is actively working to redefine what representation looks like. Together, we are committed to creating meaningful change - one candidate, one campaign and one community at a time.
UZA’s Presidential candidate, Elisabeth Valerio, received a remarkable 6,989 votes - a testament to the undeniable resonance of UZA’s message: Zimbabwe is ready for change! This achievement, despite the party's limited time and resources for campaigning, demonstrates the growing influence of UZA. We are connecting Zimbabweans across the globe to harness the power of one.
The power of one people united by a purpose to shatter barriers that divide and build bridges that unite.
The power of one voice, brave enough to echo the truth, unyielding even in the face of tyranny.
The power of one dream, shared by millions, to forge a free and prosperous Zimbabwe.
The power of one will, steadfast and resolute, to demand justice and accountability.
When multiplied, the power of one breaks chains and rewrites the future.
Together, We Forge the Future
