UZA Mourns Chimanimani Crash Victims

The United Zimbabwe Alliance (UZA) is saddened by the horrific Chimanimani disaster which has so far claimed 35 lives, leaving dozens injured, some with life threatening injuries.

Our party joins the nation, the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) and the bereaved families in mourning the tragic loss of lives of ZCC members who were on their way to an Easter church gathering.

The loss of so many innocent lives in circumstances that could otherwise have been avoidable is not only regrettable but heartrending.  The driver of the bus is on record attributing the accident to poor signage and brake failure.

UZA is calling on all transport operators to ensure that their vehicles are well serviced before they embark on any journey as a way of preventing the unnecessary loss of lives.  We also urge the government of Zimbabwe to rectify and ensure more clearer road signs as a way of cautioning drivers of dangerous spots.

Our party is also calling on drivers to exercise extreme caution on the roads most of which have poor signage as a way of avoiding the tragic loss of lives.

We would also like to take this opportunity to wish all those injured in this accident a full recovery.  We hope and pray that they receive the requisite medical expertise to fast track their recovery.

Our deepest condolences go to the bereaved families. May they derive comfort from the knowledge that we are mourning with them during this dark hour of grief.

May the dear souls of those who died in this tragic accident rest in eternal peace.
